We would like to stress that any terrorist activity, no matter who does it and for what purpose, is the greatest blow to peace, democracy and humanity. For this reason terrorist activities can by no means be approved of. Terror cannot be a means for independence, nor can it be applied to a struggle for salvation. It costs, most of all, the lives of innocent people.

Islam never approves of any kind of terrorism. Terrorism cannot be a means for any Islamic goal, and a terrorist cannot be a Muslim, nor can a true Muslim be a terrorist. Islam orders peace and a true Muslim can only be a symbol of peace and the maintenance of basic human rights. If there are nine criminals and only one innocent person on a ship, in order to punish the criminals, Islam does not permit the sinking of that ship because of the innocent person. Any right is respected in Islam and it cannot be violated. The right of an individual cannot be violated for the interest of the community. The Qur’an, Islam’s sacred Book, declares that one who takes a life unjustly is as if he/she took the lives of the whole humankind, and one who saves a life is as if he/she saved the lives of all. Also, our Prophet Muhammad says that a Muslim is one who does no harm with either his/her tongue or hand.

We strongly condemn the last terrorist attack in the United States. It only deserves condemnation and hatred, and it must be condemned by all in the world.

We assure the American people that we pray to God Almighty for the victims and feel from the bottom of our hearts the pain of them all. May God equip them with patience.

In light of the recent events in New York and Washington, it is important to provide all non-Muslims with facts about where Islam stands on the issues and what real Muslims believe in. Islam is a religion rooted in peace and the name Islam actually means peace and the submission to the will of Allah. Peace has always been at the forefront of any dialogue about Islam. One of the names of Allah means peace. The greeting that all Muslims utilize in daily interactions is an expression of peace. Paradise for Muslims is the abode of peace. Thus, Islam asserts a universal call for peace and we believe that peace can only be discovered through interfaith dialogue.

The True Muslim believes in the notion of the "People of the Book" which encompasses Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Muslims believe that we can unite with the Christians and Jews because we all believe in one God and feel that the Talmud, Bible, and Torah in their original forms are the word of God, just as the Qur'an is the word of God. The esteemed Qur'an provides the evidence for this:

Say: "O People of the Book! Come to common terms As between you and us: that we worship none but God, That we associate no Partners with him, that we Take not, From among ourselves lords and patrons other Than God." If they then turn back say you, "Bear witness That we are Muslims (surrendered to the will of God)."

Muslims and Christians believe in the same Prophets and share the same stories of the world through God's eyes. Indeed a Muslim is not considered a believer if he rejects the Prophethood of Moses, Jesus, Adam, Abraham, and others. According to Islam, Prophet Abraham was a beloved servant of God who was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac/Ismail, attempted to convert his father to Islam, and purified the Ka'ba of idolatry. Prophet Adam was an integral member of the creation story who became the first human according to the Qur'an. He and Eve defied God by eating the forbidden fruit but Adam repented through service and later met Moses in heaven. Prophet Moses was a beloved messenger of Allah who was the only Prophet to speak directly to God. Prophet Jesus was a beloved servant of Allah who was born in a miraculous birth to Mary and performed many miracles despite his insignificant career as a carpenter.

However, even though there are many similarities between Islam, Christianity and Judaism, many people belonging to these religions are unaware of these facts. Therefore these people can easily attach a persons behaviour and way of life to his religion even if what he is doing is completely wrong with respect to his religion. Attaching personal behaviours to a religion can cause misunderstanding of that religion and can damage the dilaogue between religions, as it was the case on these terrorists attacks. We hope that we are going to reestablish the dialogue between religions again and want to conclude with the universal call of The Koran:

"And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah stretches out for you, and be not divided among Yourselves, and remember with thanks Allah's favor on you, for you were enemies and he joined your hearts in love, so that by his Grace, you became Brethren, And you were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and he saved you From it. Thus, does Allah make his signs clear to you: That you may be guided."
